DR. NINETTE BABINEAU, DHumL, Junior Strings & School  String Ensembles 

Dr. Ninette Babineau’s studies in string performance and pedagogy  include undergraduate and post graduate degrees in education and 

performance. A graduate of Hartt College and Boston University, she has  studied each of the four bowed instruments with such teachers as  Raphael Bronstein, Ariana Bronne, and Dorothy Delay on violin,  Suzanne Lecarpentier on cello and Gary Karr on double bass, as well as  pedagogical concepts with Ariana Bronne, George Bornoff and Shinichi  Suzuki. 

Dr. Babineau has taught strings in school and university programs in  Canada and the US. As Head of Instrumental Music for the Halifax  Schools she developed a widely acclaimed string program which  continues to the present. After retiring from public school teaching, she  was active as a performing musician, playing with orchestras and  chamber ensembles across the Maritimes. She has served in leadership  roles on numerous regional, national and international arts and education  boards and advisory committees and continues to be active as a  consultant, clinician, assessor and adjudicator. 

Dr. Babineau has published internationally on the subject of education in  and through the arts and has been the recipient of several major awards  for her work in the arts and education.
