Original Composition & Singer Songwriter - Syllabus 2027

General Rules for Original Composition & Singer Songwriter

1. Compositions may be for “soloist or group” (Singer Songwriter) or “soloist or chamber ensemble” (Original Composition) in all disciplines, up to ten performers (any combination of instruments and/or voices).

2. Compositions must be original works (no arrangements) and solely the work of the participant.

3. Compositions will be judged on originality, clarity of ideas, and handling of musical materials (melody, harmony, rhythm, and formal structure).

4. The work must be performed during the festival to receive an adjudication. Composers may perform their own composition if the composition is for solo instrument or voice.

5. The work must be performed at the scheduled time and date to receive adjudication.

6. Each composer may submit only one entry.

7. The Adjudicator may refuse to accept any manuscript that is illegible.

8. Electroacoustic works (MIDI, tape, or tape and performer) are not eligible.

9. AN ADVANCE SCORE MUST BE SENT TO THE FESTIVAL NO LATER THAN WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 6, 2027 11:59 PM TO NSKIWANISMUSICFEST@GMAIL.COM. If there are subsequent editions of the score, a revised copy must be presented to the Adjudicator before the start of the class.
